As we approach the end of the year, I often hear homeowners asking, “Sarita, I want to sell my house next year. Should I wait until spring?”

Our spring market kicks off earlier than you might expect—usually in March. March to August are the busiest times in real estate. Many sellers even list their homes in February to get a jump on the competition before the spring rush hits.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve visited a seller’s home, and they weren’t ready to put up the sign the next day. There is always a honey-do list of minor repairs waiting to be addressed.

• Changing the light bulbs, and more
