Due to the seasonality of our market, in the fall and winter, sellers have less competition than in the spring and summer. There’s more buyer activity in the warmer months, but there are also more listings on the market with which you’ll have to compete.
I have this saying, “You can’t get a nibble from a fish if your worm’s not in the water.” The best way to be on the market is to truly be on the market and not just talk about being on the market. The people who buy in the fall and winter are serious buyers who are usually trying to time a job change or a break from school. In the Portland area, Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends are always busy.
